Network IP Camera is a stand-alone device which allows users to view live, full motion video from anywhere on a computer network, even over the Internet, using a standard web-browser. Businesses and homes are increasingly finding IP camera a more economical alternative to high-priced closed circuit TV (CCTV) systems. IP cameras have web servers built in the device and there is no need for a separate server. Only LAN or Internet connectivity is needed which greatly reduce the costs of installation and operation. Features such as motion sensing with email notification, simultaneous user login, and FTP upload capability further differentiate the device from current video technology.

IP cameras are being used for security and other remote monitoring purposes in offices, retail stores, warehouses, construction sites, day care centers, ISP and web hosting data centers, health/medical facilities, banks and financial institutions, parking lots, research facilities, school, Internet cafes, restaurants, hotels. They are also used to supervise children or pets at home or for home security in general. Small business can replace time clocks by placing network IP cameras at employee entrances and using motion detection with notification to let supervisors, human resources and/or payroll staff confirm employee work activity. IP cameras are very effective for special events and trade show security. IP cameras are also being used to help promote a wide variety of web sites and online businesses. Many hotels and tourist attractions use network cameras to show potential visitors beautiful shots of their attractions or to focus on weather conditions.
